Sarah L. McGarrell

Sarah McGarrell works with emerging growth and closely held companies as well as angel investors, family offices and institutional investors focused on privately held investments across all stages of growth. She also serves as head of the firm’s cannabis practice.

Sarah believes that the right professional team will help accelerate a client’s path to success. Whether she’s working with a startup engaged in their first offering or a family office making their 100th investment, each transaction is a unique opportunity to listen to the client, help them achieve their goals, and advise them on managing their particular risk.

She works with clients across a spectrum of industries, including cannabis, technology, life science, and crypto. The opportunity to learn about new industries and new business models is what keeps Sarah excited about her practice.

Sarah has a particular interest in, and experience with, complex regulatory issues. In the cannabis industry, Sarah represents investors and operators in the medical, recreational, and hemp industries, and frequently works with entrepreneurs and stakeholders to develop sustainable, thoughtful, and compliant business structures and financing plans. Sarah also advises companies and investors on cross border regulatory issues created by foreign investment in privately held US businesses, including CFIUS and AML.

Sarah is a native Bostonian and spends her winters skiing and summers sailing.
