Nikhil Patel Joins Pierce Atwood's Boston IP Practice

Pierce Atwood LLP is proud to announce that attorney Nikhil Patel has joined the firm as an associate in the Intellectual Property & Technology Group.  Nikhil will reside in the firm’s Boston office where he will focus on patent matters. 

Nikhil has experience representing domestic and international clients in all areas of U.S. and foreign intellectual property law, with a particular focus on patent prosecution, trademarks, portfolio strategy and counseling, due diligence studies, opinions, freedom to operate studies and intellectual property litigation support.

Before beginning his law career Nikhil gained valuable industry experience:  As a software engineer, he worked debugging insurance software and assisted in the development of an online interface for insurance agents to maintain insurance policies.  While working as a computer engineer, Nikhil programmed the mapping system in the Terrain Commander Unit, a military apparatus used to detect and destroy low-flying aircraft, nearby vehicles, and hostile personnel, using Visual C++ and Arview, a mapping program.

Nikhil earned his J.D. from the Widener University School of Law and his B.S. in Computer Science and Economics from Tufts University. 

He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Nikhil is a member of the Boston Patent Law Association, the South Asian Bar Association and the Network of Indian Professionals.  

Prior to joining Pierce Atwood, Nikhil practiced intellectual property law at Hamilton Brook Smith & Reynolds and interned at Volpe and Koenig.
