Maine Individual Income Tax Deadline Extended to May 17, 2021
On March 18, 2021, Maine Governor Janet Mills announced that the state will extend the deadline for Maine individual income tax payments from April 15, 2021 to May 17, 2021. The governor’s announcement comes one day after the IRS announced that it was moving the filing and payment deadline for individuals to May 17. As a result of the IRS announcement, the filing deadline for Maine individual income tax returns is also automatically extended to May 17.
Neither the IRS nor the state of Maine has extended the filing or payment deadline for taxpayers other than individuals. In addition, estimated tax filing and payments are still due on April 15 for all taxpayers.
