Mark A. Sayre
Mark Sayre is an associate in Pierce Atwood’s Business Practice Group.
Before joining Pierce Atwood, Mark was an extern for Match Group, where he analyzed the impact of new state data privacy laws on company policies. He also recommended changes regarding the use of sensitive personal information, rights regarding targeted advertising, and deidentification standards.
During law school, Mark was a summer privacy fellow for the International Association of Privacy Professionals in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He reviewed and analyzed privacy risk trends based on public disclosures by large companies for IAPP’s Annual Privacy Risk Study. He also researched regulatory updates on CCPA/CPRA and GDPR for IAPP legislative trackers.
In 2023, Mark was a Pierce Atwood summer associate, where he performed legal research and drafted memos and motions on a wide range of legal matters. He also reviewed data breach notification obligations, evaluated the wave of generative AI copyright and trademark infringement lawsuits, and researched trends related to new state data privacy law and data privacy-related class action filings.
Before law school, Mark worked as an actuary and underwriting technologist for more than 10 years. He led the design, pricing, and implementation of multiple industry-leading life insurance products, including negotiating and procuring reinsurance pools. He is a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst.
