Matthew J. Schutte

Matthew Schutte is an associate in Pierce Atwood’s Patent Practice Group.

Prior to joining Pierce Atwood, Matt was an associate at Harness IP in St. Louis, Missouri, where he drafted patent applications and office action responses. He collaborated with colleagues to develop litigation strategies through discovery requests, and conducted patentability searches for potential technology related to future client products.

Before that, Matt was a legal extern at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Arlington, Virginia. While there he researched known technological knowledge to ensure that invention submissions were novel and unique and drafted office actions reflecting his research.

During law school, Matt was a student attorney in the IP & Transaction Practice Clinic. He drafted office action responses, filed trademark registrations, and performed comprehensive trademark searches for potential marks brought by clients.
