Olga Goldberg Moderator and Griff Leschefske Presenter at National Association of State Bar Tax Sections Annual Meeting
Pierce Atwood tax attorney Olga Goldberg and trusts and estates attorney Griff Leschefske will participate in a panel discussion titled, “State Income Taxation of Trusts: Developments since Kaestner.”
The U.S. Supreme Court’s 2019 decision in North Carolina Department of Revenue v. Kimberly Rice Kaestner 1992 Family Trust was considered a significant taxpayer victory. The panel will discuss the post-Kaestner landscape, and planning tools available under trust law to improve trust administration, such as decanting, nonjudicial settlement agreements, and changes of administrative situs.
