Peter Guffin and Vivek Rao to Participate in Panel Discussion on California Consumer Privacy Act
Pierce Atwood Privacy & Data Security Practice Chair Peter J. Guffin will be a speaker, and firm attorney Vivek Rao will be the moderator of a panel, discussing the California Consumer Privacy Act at a one day Privacy-in-Practice conference on May 31, 2019 as part of the Maine Law School’s 10th Annual Summer Information Privacy Institute.
This session will cover the law’s scope and application and provide practical advice on how to comply with consumer’s new rights to enhanced disclosures on privacy practices, data access, deletion, and portability. For organizations new to data protection, it will demystify the CCPA’s prohibitions on the sale of data to third parties, private rights of action, and anti-discrimination rules. For those that already comply with GDPR, learn what more you need to do to meet the CCPA.
