Pierce Atwood Attorneys Brief Maine Bankers Association Committees on Cyber Risks
Pierce Atwood attorneys Peter Guffin, Matt Stein, and former partner Louise Thomas briefed the Maine Bankers Association's Bank Security and Operations & Technology committees on cyber risks affecting their industry. They presented at the committees' joint meeting on November 30th at the Augusta Civic Center.
Their presentation, "Managing Cyber Risks in Today’s World – Information Security, Cyber Crimes and Beyond," covered the risks associated with the expansion of online and electronic banking are varied and growing. Each week brings new reports of fraudulent ACH transfers, data breaches and denial-of-service attacks to banks large and small. Attorneys from Pierce Atwood’s Privacy and Data Security practice group, with years of experience working with banks and other clients in this area, discussed concrete ways in which to address and manage these risks.
