Tom Dunn Named Chair of Division 1 of ABA Forum on Construction Law
Pierce Atwood Construction Practice Group Chair R. Thomas Dunn has been named Chair of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Construction Law Division 1, Litigation & Dispute Resolution effective September 1, 2020. The ABA Forum on Construction Law is the largest association of construction attorneys in the nation with over 4,000 members.
Tom is well-known in the construction industry for his wide range of expertise in various industry sectors, including power generation, utility and road work, painting, plumbing, and mechanical work.Tom regularly serves as trial counsel in Massachusetts and Rhode Island state and federal courts, representing owners, general contractors, and subcontractors in multiparty, complex commercial litigation.
Tom’s industry experience and collaborative style have led to an array of leadership positions within the legal and construction industries including with the Massachusetts Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts, Tufts Lawyers Association, and local bar associations. Tom also serves as an arbitrator on the Construction Panel of the American Arbitration Association.
Already serving as editor of the Forum’s construction law newsletter publication (Under Construction), and having previously served on a variety of its committees, Tom is well-positioned to lead the nearly 500 Division 1 members in their goal of “enhancing advocacy skills of construction lawyers in trials, arbitrations, and mediations, and developing innovative ADR strategies and procedures.”
